Scale / Offset
Scale / Offset — the adapter that makes any signal fit any input.
Learn about it in Modulation: making sounds move
How it works
Output = IN × Scale + Offset. Shrink a signal (Scale 0.1), flip it (negative Scale), or shift it (Offset). With nothing patched in it outputs just the Offset — a manual “voltage” you can send anywhere.
Inputs
| IN | Signal to adjust. |
|---|
Outputs
| OUT | Adjusted signal. |
|---|
Knobs and switches
| Scale | Multiplier (negative inverts). |
|---|---|
| Offset | Amount added. |
Patches to try
- LFO → Scale/Offset (Scale 0.02) → VCO V/OCT for subtle vibrato.
- Nothing in, Offset +1 → VCO V/OCT: transpose up an octave.
Lessons that use the Scale / Offset
Each one opens as a working patch in the synth.
Words to know
- Attenuator — Turns a signal down (or, as an attenuverter, flips it upside down).
