Sequencing
Burst
Turns one trigger into a quick roll of triggers — the ratchets of drill ’n’ bass hats and trap rolls.
Learn about it in Rhythm: clocks, gates & sequencers
How it works
Each TRIG fires Count triggers, Spacing apart. Patch a clock into CLK and the whole roll fits exactly into one tick instead, so ratchets stay in time at any tempo. Shape bends the spacing: turn it left and the roll speeds up, right and it slows down. END fires once the roll is done.
Inputs
| TRIG | Starts a roll. |
|---|---|
| CLK | Optional tempo: the roll fits into one tick of it. |
Outputs
| OUT | The roll of triggers. |
|---|---|
| END | A trigger when the roll finishes — chain another Burst, or reset something. |
Knobs and switches
| Count | Triggers per roll. |
|---|---|
| Spacing | Gap between them (when nothing is in CLK). |
| Shape | Even, speeding up, or slowing down. |
Patches to try
- Drum Seq HAT → Burst TRIG, Clock 1/16 → Burst CLK, Burst OUT → hat: ratchet hats.
- Burst into a Plucked String for strummed rolls.
Lessons that use the Burst
Each one opens as a working patch in the synth.
